Role Models

We know that:
• Women need to see themselves as leaders
• Women can not become leaders if they don’t first have a vision that being a leader
is both possible and desirable
• When girls and women don’t see themselves as leaders they self-select out

Seeing leader role models is the essential first step
in developing women as leaders.

We know that:
• Other people need to see women as leaders.
• Other people won’t accept or create opportunity for women leaders if they don’t first see women in significant, unconventional leadership roles
• When other people don’t see women as leaders they don’t believe there is value in increasing the amount of women in leadership roles.

Seeing women as leaders is the first step in creating
acceptance and opportunities for women in leadership roles.
